Pennies, Pennies, and More Pennies...

Today was a GOOD day pennywise. I started my morning off with a dream that I was walking into work and right out front of work, someone had dropped a whole basket full of squished pennies. I was picking them all up until my manager came outside and told me to get in because there was an escalated call waiting for me. Go figure.

So.. drum roll. We went to the Utah Capitol building and picked up 4 shiny new pennies! Then we went over to the "This is the place" state park. I squished three sets of the pennies so I never have to step foot on their property again :)

Then I came home from school to a package in the mail from the Oregon Lottery. No... not ten thousand dollars. Better! 25 Oregon State Lottery squished pennies! It was like Christmas :)
Quick weekend update: Two coin shops and we walked away with 2 old San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge Pennies (one squished on a 1929 penny and the other on a 1920 penny), a Hansen Planetarium penny, the lord's prayer, a Seattle World's Fair 1962 penny, and a Lagoon penny.

Oberammergau Pfennig

So I was cleaing up today and found a pfennig I squished in Germany probably around 1999. All I know is that it's the site of the passion plays in Germany, but I'm not sure exactly where I picked it up, what happened to all the old pfennig machines when euro's came about, etc. If you have any info on this, please let me know.

Thanks!
Kim

E Pluribus Funum Squished Penny

I had heard recently that the Oregon State Lottery was giving out smashed pennies with their scratch tickets as a marketing thing. I took a stab in the dark and emailed the address on the Lotto's website. Sure enough, she wrote back and said she'll be sending me some pennies for free! YAY!

*NEW* StiltWalker Pennies

New Pennies :)

"Real pennies squished, squashed and rolled flat with an old fashioned hand operated - by me!- penny press! For your collection of "Pressed by Stretch" elongated pennies, send $5 to Stretch, 930 S. Decatur St., Denver, CO 80219."

I sent away for these yesterday. I thought they were cool because they're from a guy who makes stilts...which reminded me of the time my dad built stilts for us as kids. Good times. Anyway.. should have new pennies by the end of the week!~ YAY!

Squishin' Mission... the early years

So today... we went on our first squishin' mission. Now before you ask what a squishin' mission is, let me give you some back ground. As many of you may know, I've been collecting Pez dispensers for many many years. Not as passionately, but just as geeky, I've been picking up squished pennies here and there throughout the years. I've decided to pursue my geekiness and be more passionate about my squished penny collection. So today, we went on a "south of Salt Lake Squishin' Mission."
